Year 9
Inclusiveness Challenge
As part of a grade-wide inclusiveness initiative, students participated in a hands-on problem-solving challenge designed to foster teamwork and creativity. Working in small, diverse teams, students were tasked with designing and constructing a device to protect an egg when thrown from the canteen balcony. The catch? Each team had access to only a limited set of basic materials, encouraging resourcefulness and collaboration.
With much anticipation, all the eggs were thrown off the balcony, with several surviving more than 1 throw. Throughout the activity, students demonstrated impressive problem-solving skills and adaptability, while working well in their teams.
Wood Design
The year 9 wood design class is currently busy building folding Adirondack chairs, which hopefully will be completed by the end of the term. This is a larger project, and a significant investment has been made in materials with the anticipation of producing an excellent chair, an item to value and appreciate for many years. Included is a selection of photos from the class busily cutting, shaping, fastening, and sanding their projects. Look out for these to be on display at Reece High Schools next RP night.
